Types of Back Problems

Types of Back Problems

The human spine is a complex organ and things are bound to go wrong when the complexity of the organs increases. The spine sure holds true to that statement. There are many varieties of disorders found in the human spine. They are broadly categorised as:

  • Pain
  • Strength limitations
  • Mobility limitations

Is it back pain?

Our spine has a lot of joints, discs, tendons, ligaments and muscles attached to it which can each separately cause pain or combine together to cause certain issues. Instead of looking for problems only in the particular area of pain, we have to start looking at it in a whole way, as pain is also caused when our body is trying to adapt to the reaction caused by any injury or trauma.

Loss of strength in the back?

The usual rounded back posture we resort to while in a seated position puts us in a very poor alignment to use our back muscles appropriately. The muscles surrounding the shoulder blades, which are the rhomboids, the upper, middle and the lower traps and also the rotator cuff, not only become posturally weak, but also become weak in general in this rounded back position. This, in turn, leads to the inability to build strength in the back. Prolonged neglect will cause the muscles to weaken and you will be unable to perform adequately in your activities.

Does your back feel tight?

The lumbar and the thoracic region of the spine are known to be affected by mobility restrictions. The way we always sit slouching forward, bending backwards becomes quite a challenge. This along with some hip issues can cause major damage to the health of the spine.

How to fix these problems?

Regular exercise can help regain your spine’s health. Yoga and other stretching exercises are very helpful. Make a routine and follow them to have a happy spine.
