Don't let your workplace give you back pain

Don't let your workplace give you back pain

Do you think that your work is resulting in pain in your back? Having a bad posture for long hours of work can cause strain in your neck and back muscles. Sitting all day in front of a laptop or computer will do you more harm than good. Simple changes in your lifestyle can have a major impact on your health. You can start by maintaining an active routine all day and keeping proper posture at all times. These changes will reduce your risk of having a back pain problem and many other types of health issues.

Given below are some simple ideas which you can implement in your workplace to prevent back pain issues.

  • Good Chair- Investing in a good chair will later save you a lot of bucks on medical bills you would have to pay because of severe back pain problems. Many ergonomic chairs are available which provide proper support to your back to maintain a good posture while you work. The chair must allow you lower back to appropriately rest against the lumbar support. Your feet should also be able to rest flat on the ground while keeping the knees in level with your hips.
  • Slouching and Hunching- Sitting in our chair all day looking into a computer will lead you to slouch or hunch. This is the main reason for back pain. Try to keep your head straight while working and align your neck and head right above your shoulders.
  • Feet Placement- Your feet should be placed on the floor with a shoulder width distance between them to reduce tension in your ankles and knees.
  • Crossed Legs- One thing to keep in mind is to not sit continuously with your legs crossed. When you sit with your legs crossed, it gets very difficult to keep the spine straight. This could lead to back pain.
